PBN Links for Local SEO: A 2026 Case Study (200 Links)

product-image

In August 2026, a US local service business added 200 PBN links to its city landing pages. Four weeks later, the number of its keywords ranking #1 on Google had grown from 35 to 62.

One city keyword climbed from #75 into the top 10 in three days. Eight keywords that weren't ranking at all reached page 1.

This PBN links case study covers what we built, how the rankings moved, and what didn't change. It also covers the part most case studies skip: when PBN links make sense for local SEO, and when they don't.

Editor's note from Legiit: This case study was submitted by KINGPINWEB, a Level 4 seller on Legiit, and links to their service. The ranking data comes from the seller's own rank tracker. Keywords are masked by the seller to protect the client.

The client: a local service business with 25 city pages

The client runs a local service business across about 25 US cities and states. Every city has its own landing page.

Those pages target high-intent searches, the kind people make when they need help today:

  • "[service] near me [city]"
  • "24 hour [service] [city]"
  • "[service] [city]"

In local service, the top three results take most of the calls. A city page sitting at #8 brings in a fraction of the leads a #2 page does.

Where the site started

This was not a new or weak site. At our first rank check on 11 August 2026, it already held #1 for 35 of its 200 target keywords.

The gaps were elsewhere. Thirty keywords didn't rank in the top 100 at all, and many city pages sat just below the top three.

The goal was simple: push more city pages to the top of page 1, where the phone rings.

What we delivered

The client ordered 200 of our POWERFUL PBN Links That Work on 7 August 2026. The links pointed at the client's city landing pages.

Here is what each link involved:

  • Private network sites. Every link came from a site in our own network, with DA 20+ and 50+ referring domains. The sites have professional designs and are kept private, so nothing ties them back to the client.
  • One handwritten article per link. Each link sits inside a 500-word article written by our team. There is one outbound link per post, pointing at the matching city page.
  • Fast indexing. All 200 posts were written and live within 24 hours. We used our own indexing process to get them crawled quickly.
  • Daily rank tracking. All 200 target keywords went into our rank tracker on the day of the order, so every move is on record.

This was a single bulk order delivered at once. For an ongoing campaign, we recommend a steady monthly pace instead (more on that in the tips below).

The results: how the rankings moved

The first ranking changes showed up on 13 August, about five days after the links went live. From there, the gains came quickly.

#1 rankings: from 35 to a peak of 62

The number of keywords at #1 rose from 35 on 11 August to 62 on 7 September. That's a 77% increase in under four weeks.

Rankings then settled. By 29 September, 41 keywords held the #1 spot, still six more than at the start.

Some fallback after a burst of new links is common, as rankings settle into place. The useful number for a business owner is where rankings hold, and here they held above the starting line.

Fastest mover: #75 to the top 10 in three days

The biggest single jump came from a "[service] [city]" keyword:

  • 11 August: #75
  • 13 August: #18
  • 14 August: top 10
  • Best position: #1
  • Since mid-September: holding at #2

That's a page that went from invisible to the top of page 1 in a matter of days, and stayed there.

A "near me" keyword climbs to #1

Near-me searches carry some of the strongest buying intent in local SEO. One "[service] near me [city]" keyword moved like this:

  • 11 August: #31
  • End of August: #4
  • 27 September: #1

This one climbed more slowly and kept climbing. That steady pattern is often a better sign than a fast spike.

The 14 biggest movers

Of the 200 tracked keywords, 54 ranked higher on 30 September than on 11 August. These 14 moved the furthest.

What didn't move

The other 146 keywords held steady or slipped during the same period. That's nearly three in four.

We're sharing that on purpose. Links don't lift every page evenly. A few common reasons a city page stays put:

  • It was already at #1, with nowhere higher to go.
  • The local competition in that city is much stronger.
  • The page itself is thin or close to a copy of other city pages.
  • That keyword's results are dominated by the Map Pack and directories.

If a vendor shows you only the winners, ask about the rest. Any honest PBN links case study should tell you what didn't change.

How we measured this

Every number above comes from our rank tracker, set up like this:

  • Timeline. The order was placed on 7 August, and all 200 links were live within 24 hours. Our first rank check ran on 11 August, and that's the baseline used throughout.
  • What the baseline means. The first check came three days after the links went live. The first ranking movement showed up on 13 August.
  • Daily checks. Every keyword was checked daily on Google US desktop through 30 September 2026.
  • What counts as improved. A keyword counts only if its latest position was higher than on 11 August. "Best position" is the highest it reached in that window.

What this case does and doesn't show

It shows a clear, fast lift in rankings on an established local site after a single PBN order.

It doesn't prove that the links alone caused every change. There was no control group of untouched pages. The site also started strong, with 35 keywords already at #1. And the window is under eight weeks, so long-term stability isn't covered here.

When PBN links make sense for local SEO

PBN links are a tool with a specific job. They can lift the organic rankings of pages that already deserve to rank. They can't fix a weak site, and they come with real risk.

A good fit

  • Your city pages are already solid. Each one has unique content, real service details, and clear contact options.
  • The site has a base. It's indexed, it ranks for some terms and it isn't brand new.
  • Your market is competitive. Competitors' city pages have stronger link profiles than yours.
  • You track rankings daily. You can see what's working and react fast if something drops.
  • You understand the trade-off. You've weighed faster rankings against the risk of a penalty, and you're comfortable with it.

A poor fit

  • Thin or copy-paste city pages. Links won't hold up pages that swap only the city name.
  • A brand-new domain. Build the basics first.
  • A business that can't afford a ranking drop. If organic search is your only lead source, the risk may be too high.
  • Client sites without consent. Agencies should tell clients what links are being built and get sign-off first.

What PBN links don't replace

Organic rankings are only part of local search. The Map Pack depends heavily on your Google Business Profile, reviews, citations, and distance from the searcher.

Use PBN links alongside that groundwork, not instead of it. You can find both PBN link services on Legiit and broader local SEO services from sellers on Legiit.

3 tips for running a PBN link campaign

1. Keep a steady link velocity.
This client placed one bulk order. For ongoing campaigns, a steady monthly pace looks more natural than one big spike followed by nothing. It also gives you cleaner data on what each round of links did.

2. Keep exact-match anchors under 10%.
Don't use your target keyword as the anchor on every link. Mix in branded anchors, naked URLs, generic phrases ("click here", "this company"), and partial matches. That keeps your link profile from looking over-optimized.

3. Fix the page before you build links to it.
Links amplify what's already there. Make sure each city page has a clear title and headings, useful local content, good internal links, and fast load times. PBN links work best on pages that deserve to rank.

FAQ

Do PBN links still work in 2026?
In this case, yes. An established local site gained 27 #1 rankings at its peak and held 6 more than it started with. Results depend heavily on network quality, the site's starting strength and the competition.

Are PBN links safe for local businesses?
No link scheme is risk-free. Google's spam policies treat PBNs as link spam. Links can be quietly ignored, or a site can get a manual action. A well-run private network can lower the risk, but it can't remove it.

How fast do PBN links work?
Here, the first ranking changes showed up about five days after the links went live. The fastest keyword reached the top 10 within three days of the first rank check. Most gains came within four weeks.

How many PBN links does a local business need?
It depends on how many pages you're targeting and how competitive each city is. This client used 200 links across about 25 city pages. A smaller site in a quieter market may need far fewer. Message us with your niche and city list for a specific recommendation.
